Study
The Chinese government has an ambition to become the most popular study destination in Asia for overseas students. This plan is part of the country’s drive to internationalise its economy and become a ‘knowledge power’ in the world.
Chinese universities are starting to offer degree courses delivered in English for various subjects. Chinese language courses have also become increasingly popular with students from western countries, both at degree and non-degree level.
Tuition fees in China are generally less than in the UK, and with the planned increase in tuition fees in the UK from 2012, this gap will widen further.
On-campus accommodation is provided by the universities in China, and first-year degree students are required to stay on the campus. The cost of living as a university student in China is significantly lower than in the UK.
